Weekend Dragon Boat Skills Workshop: March 20-22, 2009
A Great Event for Dragon Boat Enthusiasts, Festival Team Captains and Friends
The Charlotte Dragon Boat Association is organizing a weekend Dragon Boat Skills Workshop March 20-22, 2009. We are very excited and look forward to having Jim Farintosh leading the workshop.
We plan to use two boats for the workshop, to have a total up to 40 paddlers. This workshop is an excellent value, and you will not be able to find such an opportunity in any location within a 250-mile radius. Spaces are already filling up fast.
The goals of the workshop are to: Learn the basic and improve proper paddling skills, race strategy, teamwork and exercise routine. To enjoy Dragon Boating as an recreational sport for fitness, competition and fellowship.
Location: Midtown Sundries Restaurant dock, Cornelius, NC
Enrollment: 20-40 (max). With preference given first to CDBA members, with applicants accepted on a first come first serve basis,
Coach: Jim Farintosh, Canadian National Premier and Senior team coach, Director of Great White North Dragon Boat Training Camp, Florida
Workshop Plan:
Friday evening: Introduction and orientation (indoor, sandwich and drinks provided)
Saturday: In-water training, AM and PM. Video review in the evening
Sunday: In-water training, 12-2 PM
Total instruction Time: 8-9 hours
Cost: $120 per person
Equipment provided: Boats, paddles, life vests, video taping/review
What you need to wear/bring: Light-weight clothing & windbreaker, sneakers or sports sandals (no unlatched slippers), cap, sun block, towel, drinks
